Your information
Privacy policy
This policy explains what Windows Windsor collects through windowswindsor.com, why we collect it and who sees it. We're a free referral service for Windsor-Essex: we pass your request to independent local window, door and glass professionals so they can quote, and they do the work. This draft is being reviewed by a lawyer before launch.

What we collect, and what for
Sending either form gives us:
- your name, email and phone number;
- the job address or town, so the request reaches someone who works there;
- what needs doing, plus any sizes, timing or grant note you add;
- photos or files you attach;
- your consent choices, with the date and time.
We use this to pass your request on, answer questions, follow up when a request stalls and keep proof of consent. We don't sell, rent or trade personal information.
Photos show more than the glass
A picture of a foggy window or a torn screen can also show your house front, its number, a car in the driveway or the inside of a room. Photos go to the pro who receives your request and to the service providers who run the form. Crop out faces and documents where you can, and ask us to delete photos once the job is quoted.
Who receives your information and where it's stored
- Independent local pros. The window, door or glass business we match to your job receives your request, contact details, address and photos so it can quote. If it can't take the job, we may pass it to another. You can ask us at any time which businesses received yours. Each is a separate company, responsible for your information under its own privacy obligations.
- Service providers. Hosting, form, email, texting and analytics tools handle data for us under contract. Some store it outside Canada, including in the United States, where its laws apply and its authorities may have access.
- When the law requires it, or to investigate fraud or misuse of the service.
No one receives your details to market their own products to you.
Cookies and site statistics
Cookies and similar tools keep the forms working and show which pages or ads led to a request, using data such as your IP address and device type. You can block cookies and still send a request.
Calls, texts and email: consent, unsubscribing and do-not-call
Ticking the first consent box lets us share your request as described above, and lets us and the pro contact you about that job by phone, email or text. Under Canada's Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL), an inquiry gives only implied consent to related commercial messages, and only for six months (CRTC guidance). We don't treat it as permission to market to you.
Tips and offers sit behind a separate, unticked box. Leave it blank and you'll still get your quote. Every commercial email or text we send names us and includes a working unsubscribe.
If you ask us not to call, we add your number to our internal do-not-call list within 14 days and keep it there for three years, as the National Do Not Call List rules require. We'll pass it on to any pro who has your details; the same rules bind them.
How long we hold it, and how it's protected
We keep a request only as long as the job, follow-up, consent records and legal duties need it, then delete it or strip out what identifies you. Only people who need it can see it. Should a breach put you at real risk of significant harm, PIPEDA requires us to notify you and report it, and we will.
Your rights: access, correction, withdrawal and complaints
PIPEDA, the federal law covering private businesses in Ontario, lets you ask us to:
- show you the personal information we hold about you and tell you who we've shared it with;
- correct anything that's wrong;
- stop using it from now on, or delete it, apart from records the law makes us keep.
We'll respond within the time PIPEDA sets. Withdrawing consent can't recall a request a pro already holds, so we'll tell you which business to contact too. If our answer doesn't settle things, you can complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.
Parliament is considering Bill C-36, which would replace PIPEDA. It had not passed when this policy was written. If it becomes law, we'll update this page.
Updates to this policy, and questions
Changes will be posted here with a new date. For privacy questions or requests, use the contact page. The terms of use cover the referral itself, and how it works explains what happens after you request a quote.
